Sustainability
We sell living things — so caring for the environment they come from is not optional. Here is what we are doing and where we still have work to do.
Responsible Sourcing
We source the majority of our plants from Kenyan growers and small-scale nurseries within East Africa. When we import rare specimens, we work only with CITES-compliant suppliers who practise ethical propagation — never wild harvesting.
Plastic-Free Packaging
Every plant leaves our nursery in recycled cardboard crates, wrapped in unbleached tissue and cushioned with shredded paper. Our pots are terracotta, ceramic or concrete — no single-use plastic nursery pots reach our customers.
Low-Emission Delivery
Our Nairobi delivery fleet is transitioning to electric cargo bikes for last-mile fulfilment. For longer-distance shipments we consolidate orders into shared runs to reduce the number of trips.
Composting & Waste
Pruning waste, spent potting mix and damaged plants are composted on-site and returned to our growing beds. We partner with Taka Taka Solutions for the recycling of any non-organic waste from our operations.
Where We Are Honest
We are not perfect. Some of our rare tropical imports still travel by air freight, and we are still working to eliminate polystyrene from our cold-chain packaging. We publish this page not as a claim of completion but as a public commitment to keep improving.
